Lockerbie Manor, Manor Adventure, Scotland- Monday 22nd-Friday 26th March 2021

Welcome to our section dedicated to the Year 6 Residential trip to Lockerbie Manor in Scotland. As we cannot meet with parents due to Covid guidelines, we will try to add as much information as possible to this page and answer your questions.

UPDATE DECEMBER 2020- letter sent out to parents

Dear Parents,

As you may remember, at the start of the term we consulted you about our Year 6 trip to Lockerbie. At that time, we were waiting further guidance from the government about over-night educational trips. That guidance came out at the end of last week:

Domestic (UK) overnight educational visits

We continue to advise against domestic (UK) overnight educational visits.

The department recognises the enormous benefits overnight residential educational visits can provide for children.

In February 2021, we will review the possibility of changing our advice for overnight residential education visits to resume from Easter 2021 on the proviso the scientific evidence supports any such change.

This advice will therefore be reviewed and updated again in February 2021.

With this in mind, the bad news is that we will not be able to go on the usual trip to Lockerbie. But the good news is that it gives us plenty of time to work on giving our current Year 6 pupils exciting activities which will give them wonderful memories of their final year here at Burnley Road. We will now put together an alternative plan and, when confirmed, will share with the children and yourselves.

If you had paid the deposit for Lockerbie that money is safe and can be either left with school to go towards paying for the new events or, if you wish to have the money returned, please let the office know and they will refund any payments already made.

Thank you for your patience and understanding with this matter.

Mr Theaker and Mrs Walker

3Below are 2 short (6 minutes each) videos giving all the initial information about the trip. Pleae note, it deals with the trip as it would in NORMAL circumstances and will be reviewed when new guidance is given.

If you have any questions about the trip, please contact us through Seesaw and we will try to answer your questions.

(Apologies for the naration- talking to a screen is not my strong point.)

Thank you to everyone who filled in and returned the Lockerbie residential questionnaire. Your feedback was invaluable to us in how we move forward in planning for our current Year 6 class.

The opinion from all was that the ‘usual’ trip should be planned for as normal and then reviewed in January when new guidance for outdoor residential centres is published by the government and we know exactly what health and safety precautions Manor Adventure have put in place to keep our children and staff safe if we were to still go there in March. THIS HAS ALWAYS AND WILL ALWAYS BE OUR PRIORITY WHEN MAKING ANY DECISIONS ABOUT THE YEAR 6 TRIP.

We would normally invite parents in for a short information meeting but, due to Covid guidelines, we have decided to present the initial information on our website for you to view in the safety of your own homes. PLEASE NOTE: the presentation deals solely with the information for the normal trip and Lockerbie experience. Anything Covid related will be addressed later when we know more as stated above.

We hope our short presentation gives you all the information needed to decide that your child would like to come with us to Lockerbie. If you have any further questions not answered in the presentation, please contact us through Seesaw or watch the short video on the Manor Adventure website. https://www.manoradventure.com/lockerbie-manor.php#/

To secure a place we do ask for a £50 deposit, so we know how many children to accommodate and plan for. This will be kept in school until a definite decision about the trip has been made in January- so no-matter what the final outcome for the trip is, the deposit will be safe.

Once again, many thanks for your patience and understanding on this matter.
